This daughter of Westerner got off the mark at the sixth attempt a fortnight ago at Fairyhouse. She shot clear of her rivals that day under a positive ride from Cian Cullinan. He got 12lbs from the handicapper for that win and doesn't have the assistance of Cian's claim here, but she looked in rude health that day and she hopefully should be up to shouldering that penalty here today.
If she runs her race, she should be very hard to beat.
A smart horse on the flat in France this son of Night Of Thunder has taken well to hurdles since he arrived in Ireland and looks well bought by the Durkans. He wasn't beaten by far at Limerick on hurdle debut behind Out For A Stroll, before running second here last time behind a horse from the Mullins yard when getting in under the last probably cost him a winning chance.
He's progressing nicely and if he steps up again he should be very competitive in a race like this. Oakley Brown taking the ride and claiming an extra 5lbs off his back is only a positive and he should go very close.
This horse was the winner of a maiden hurdle at Gowran Park on Thyestes day and in very good style too. He looked to have too much to do off the home bend that day, but he stuck to his task really well to get up in the dying strides. The step up in trip a couple of furlongs looks sure to help his cause and testing ground will be now issued.
I fancy he will give a bold bid in an attempt to follow up that last time out success.
