This Weekend's Irish National Hunt Tips at Wexford
A big scopey chasing type who probably hasn't lived up to expectations so far in his career. He had two starts last season in very competitive beginners chases as well as a run in a Grade Three Novice Chase behind Spillanes Tower.
He's got an official rating of 130 which firstly looks a mark he will be able to exploit in time but also a level which looks beyond most if not all over his rivals here. With a clear round he's sure to go close.
Still a horse with few miles on the clock but plenty jumping experience in good maidens through the winter where he acquitted himself well. He won't get many better opportunities than this to win a maiden hurdle. He comes here on the back of a two-length defeat at Punchestown last time on what was his first run in 125 days.
He should have improved plenty for that and with race fitness on his side now he should be hard to beat.
Formerly rated 137 he has dropped to one lb below the mark which saw him win this race last season. He's been disappointing on his last couple of runs but to be fair he came into this race last year in very similar form. He's only ever ran at Wexford three times in his life winning two and falling at the last on the other occasion when disputing the lead.
Add in Paddy Hanlons seven lb claim and decent yard form things couldn't be any more in this lads favour and it could be a case of now or never! I'll be expecting a double figure price and hopefully we have some luck on our side!
