This Weekend's Irish National Hunt Tips at Wexford and Navan
He has been the model of consistency in handicaps through the winter when his yard wasn't exactly firing but they had a winner on the flat at Sligo on Wednesday evening so that can be taken as a positive. He has been 2nd on all of his last three runs at Naas with a plethora of winners in behind him as well as the last two horses to finish in front of him winning again since.
Now he has gone up 6lb in the handicap for those efforts so if there is a negative that is it, but he couldn't be running any better in more competitive races and this looks a good opportunity to final break his maiden. He should be very difficult to beat.
A good winner at Naas last Saturday over this trip coming from well off the pace with a withering run under in form Shane Foley to win snug. He's been rated as high as 90 so a mark of 81 should still be within his compass.
On his two previous runs over course and distance he finished 3rd on both occasions and both of those were on ground similar to what he will encounter here. I'm hopeful of another big run!
This mare raced three times in bumpers last season acquitting herself very well on all three occasions and she progressed run to run. She looked on the smaller and weaker side last season, so my hope is she has strengthened up plenty during her time off and comes here a stronger more mature mare.
She travels well and is tenacious in the finish so won't be found wanting in a battle late on. I'm taking it for granted of course that she will be ready to go first time bit but that's a chance I'm willing to take as I reckon, she will be a price worth chancing. The jockey knows her well and at a track that should suit I find it hard to knock her out of the frame.
