This Weekend's Irish National Hunt Tips at Gowran Park
This is a talented son of Frankel who I think will benefit from this huge drop in class from the type of races he's been contesting all season and I for one hope they will step him up to a mile and six furlongs and beyond. He was fifth in the King Edward VII before finishing sixth in the Irish Derby recently.
He could have done with being drawn a bit lower, but I honestly don't believe there is anything remotely near the ability this lad has in this field, and I'll be staggered if he gets beat.
This horse from the King Tim Doyle stable is thoroughly unexposed having only had five lifetime starts and arrives here on the back of a good second in an ultra-competitive handicap at Leopardstown last time when she came from a mile off the pace in a 21 runner field to finish with a wet sail and she certainly went into my notebook after that.
All that said she hasn't been missed by the handicapper and has gotten a 4lb rise for that run and with Wayne Hassett unable to claim in this apprentice handicap she is another 5lbs wrong having had the benefit of his claim against the pros last time. Her draw is fair and the extra bit of distance she will face here should be right up her street. I'm expecting a bold show.
An unexposed type who has only had 10 runs in his life to date. He is yet to break his maiden but has placed on three occasions including over seven furlongs on good ground at Cork in May off just 1lb higher than this mark. Colin Keane seems to get on well with him and the fact he is keen to keep the ride should be taken as a sign of intent.
He's got a good draw in stall three and here's hoping it can be put to good use. I think he's a cracking each way bet.
