Bellewstown – ST FAZ

A decent dual-purpose performer he has performed admirably in all bar one of his four hurdles starts to date winning once and placing twice. That one blip came at Gowran Park last September after which he had a 98-day break which would imply he had some kind of issue that day.

He's a big scopey strong traveller who jumps well and he's the most experienced horse in this field as well as having a decent handicap rating of 120. If he runs to that sort of mark, I can't see anything beating him. He rates a strong bet.

This is a horse I've been following since he ran second in his point to point. He made a very promising rules debut last season at the Galway Festival where he came from last to finish fourth in a slowly run bumper where the first three home had been the first three the whole way and having had the winner of the bumper in question Willie Mullins snapped this lad up.

He made a winning stable debut in a Tramore bumper in November at very short odds, but I suspect he will be a much more packable price here hopefully in and around even money or a shade of odds against. If his fitness holds up against some race fit rivals, he has a substantial level of ability and if he's 80% fit I believe he will kick his rivals aside before heading for a novice hurdle at Galway in a few weeks' time.

Bellewstown – GETAWAY CHARLIE

A thoroughly consistent horse last summer in maiden hurdles he took his form to new levels over the winter winning a handicap off a mark of 109 before running really well in a decent novice hurdle at Thurles in November. He was caught too far back last time in Kilbeggan which is a risk here again. They love dropping in and holding this horse up looking to slice through the pack late and that is the only drawback I have here at what is generally a front runners track.

I'd hope they will ride him a bit closer here no further back than mid division. If they do that then I think his mark of 121 is very workable all ground comes the same to him and he should run well in what's a competitive race for this time of year.
