Ralph Beckett continues in blistering form with eight winners in the last fortnight, and his recent arrival looks an extremely interesting runner at Goodwood on Saturday. He went straight into the notebook on his debut for Raphael Freire at Royal Ascot pitched into the Coventry Stakes, missing the break and soon in a poor position but running on strongly from two out as he began to grasp what was required.

He is sure to have learnt plenty for that kind introduction and seems certain to go close here under David Egan.

Eve Johnson Houghton is expert at inching out improvement from her handicappers, and this unexposed colt remains likely to do a good deal better as he becomes more tractable in the early stages of his races.

He caught the eye when outclassed last time out at Royal Ascot behind Haatem (first run since a wind operation), and hopefully a stronger gallop will be on the cards here now switched to a big field handicap.

Gary Moore is very much a man to be feared when the cash is down around the Sussex tracks, and his handicapper seems sure to appreciate some better ground after two creditable recent efforts in the mud.

He has vital track experience in the book over these undulations, and a positive ride from Richard Kingscote (dropping back slightly to 1m1f) should make him hard to beat.
