George Boughey has his team in terrific form at the moment, with 13 winners in the last fortnight at a 28pc strike rate, and his handicapper starts off the season on an attractive mark. He has won three of his 14 career starts so far on the turf, relishes genuinely fast ground, and remains with upside over middle distances for these excellent connections.

A 231-day break should be no negative to his chances under Neil Callan, and he can quicken past some opposable rivals inside the final furlong.

Alan King would be better known for jumping winners in the winter months, but he does well with a relatively small flat team every summer and his progressive filly can follow up an impressive Wetherby win last time out.

She now has a 10lb higher mark to defy for that comfortable victory, but glides off the prevailing fast ground and has plenty of speed to handle the sharp nature of Chester under the red-hot Silvestre de Sousa.

Robert Eddery’s sprinter has shaped as though needing the run on both starts so far this season (first runs since Ascot last October) and should strip a good deal fitter for those efforts (returning to Windsor where he won twice in style in 2023).

He is now back down to a winning mark with the forecast fast ground ideal, and his regular rider Darragh Keenan will be looking to make all the running (at a track that often favours those tactics in the summer months).
