He is off 126, the same mark as last time out, and will now look to build on that by stepping up in trip. He is a three-mile point-to-point winner, who beat a recent Sedgefield scorer by 25 lengths on good ground. He bolted up on rules debut when sent hurdling, but no time was wasted, he only had two hurdle runs before being sent chasing. In his first time up in this sphere, he bumped into the sadly ill-fated, but highly talented Giovinco in a match race, he then stayed on strongly on this course again over two-mile-four on heavy ground to beat a couple of decent yardsticks. He made a bad mistake at Hexham the time after when dropping to the rear, only to fly home to snatch second up the hill.
He bumped into another solid type in the shape of Tedley, who was on his game at the time, and was sent off favourite two runs back at Carlisle in a race won by today’s market rival O’Connell. He was pulled up with no explanation for the poor show.
He proved that may have been a one off by running on again last time out when tackling two-mile-seven and a half furlong over this course on soft ground. He was outpaced and was six lengths down at the last, storming home to be beat just two lengths.
He’s had seven chase starts, and only ten runs to date total, and his team are in-form, and this test could suit this lightly raced eight-year-old.
