A point-to-point winner on soft, he comes here with just 15 runs to date. He won his rules debut by 21 lengths and ran second in Grade 1 on just his second start. He was second to dual Gold Cup winner, Galopin Des champs, in a Grade 1 on just his fourth start and ran third in the Group One Stayers at the Punchestown Festival. On chase debut he beat the Grand National winner, I Am Maximus, by an easy eight lengths, and won the Grade 2 Charlie Hall, beating an in song Bravemansgame.

He pulled up in the Gold Cup after, but that was just his fourth chase start, and he was fifth to Gerri Colombe in a Grade One after, when just behind Shishkin. He ran a close five lengths fourth in the Grade 1 Punchestown Gold Cup behind Fastorslow (winning the race again), Galopin Des Champs (GC winner) & Hewick (King George winner).

On seasonal debut last time out, he was third to Galopin Des Champs (unbeaten at Leopardstown) & Fact To File (Brown Advisory and John Durkan winner). Here, a realistic danger is the King George third, L’Homme Presse who gets 6lb off the selection, on a track that will suit him better. However, he has had issues, and the stable isn’t on top form as they were prior to Christmas.

I have it between the two, but I like the younger legs and form of Gentlemansgame, after his huge performance at Christmas.
