John Bridger and Rachel Cook’s unexposed sprinter looked one to follow up the handicap when shedding her maiden tag under a positive ride at Bath last October and shaped well when second (despite pulling hard) back at that track in April on her seasonal reappearance.

She showed terrific early speed when blazing the trail at Windsor last time out and is worth chancing at Goodwood on Saturday from the foot of the weights (with the easing of the ground no issue at all and front-running a good plan of attack at this venue).

Roger Teal’s recent arrival from Roger Varian went straight into the notebook when finishing second at Wetherby in April, travelling very strongly under a confident ride but just picked off by the well backed Own Accord (pair quickly trapped four lengths clear of the rest on soft ground).

He now goes handicapping from a lenient looking opening mark of just 80, and this flat track on easing ground should really play to his strengths under the excellent Kevin Stott.

LONG SHOT:

Haydock – SQUEEZEBOX

Mick Appleby is a very shrewd operator particularly when the money is down, and his handicapper is fancied to gain compensation for an expensive defeat on his seasonal reappearance at Bath in April (raced freely and weakened over a furlong out in the testing ground conditions).

He remains with potential over middle distances this summer, and the galloping nature of Haydock (and likely strong pace) should help him settle better in the early stages under the talented claimer Frederick Larson.
