This mare may be a 10-year-old rising eleven but her enthusiasm for the game is like that of a four-year-old. She likes to race prominently and is a really fluent jumper. Despite her age she's only had eleven lifetime starts and I'm hoping twelfth times the charm.
She was still disputing the lead at the last in Limerick on her penultimate start when she came down. She since went to Galway where she wasn't beaten far over a trip saw the gauge run empty. This drop back in trip at a front runners track should be right up her street and he's bound to go close in what looks a weak contest.
This mare is yet another long-standing maiden, both flat and jumps, but she's unexposed as a hurdler and ran really well in her last couple of starts.
The step up in trip here from two miles to two-and-a-half should see her step forward, and if she does she is sure to go close in what looks a very winnable race, and a mark within a couple of pounds off where she has finished in the money before. Here's hoping for a big run.
This horse has long been on my radar, running within a few lengths in maiden hurdles of the likes of Nucky Johnson, Hunters Yarn, Nick Rockett and Let's Go Champ, to name but a few. That was two seasons ago now and he missed the best part of a year due to injury.
He made his seasonal debut at Fairyhouse four weeks ago, where he settled in rear, his jumping was brilliant and as the pace picked up he just steadied into the second last before staying on well through rivals to finish a good fourth on what was a lovely reintroduction.
If he can step forward from that, which you'd imagine he can, he looks primed for a good run. Granted he may want the ground a bit softer than this, but with a more positive ride they may well be able to counteract that. He's more than capable of winning off a mark of 105 and hopefully this is the day.
