This horse was a dual winner over hurdles last season before he ran more than creditable races in two Grade Ones at Cheltenham and Punchestown. He made a very pleasing debut over fences at this course over a slightly shorter trip behind Majborough four weeks ago. He will be all the better for that and given a more positive ride here to bring his stamina into play he sets a fair standard, and I fancy him to turn around the form with Tullyhill from last time in the process.
An impressive winner last time at Navan this son of Walk In The Park in the colours of JP McManus has been a slow burner over fences but with the handbrake released last time he showed he's more than capable of mixing it in handicaps over fences. He travelled extremely well at Navan without maybe kicking away to win as far as you might have thought going to the last.
Back on slower ground and back in trip here I expect to see him to good effect once again and he should be primed to go close again in what's a competitive race. That said he's in great form and hopefully he's ready to kick on and take his chasing career to new heights.
Little did I ever think I'd be considering this horse a bet in a handicap chaser over this sort of distance but, on his last couple of starts he has shown that he doesn't quiet see out the longer trips in high quality handicaps, though he travels particularly well.
He's a big bold jumper who has a high cruising speed and with a forceful ride to draw some of the sting out of his rivals, he could be difficult to pass. The softer ground here than he has encountered so far this season will be a positive to his chances and if he runs his race, he is more than capable of making the frame at a double figure price.
