Racing Lee's Royal Ascot Day 5 Tips
A Group Two Coventry winner last season over six furlongs at this meeting, he was campaigned at the highest level. He went on from that to run third in the Group One Prix Morny. Vandeek won the race and carried all before him that season, the second was Ramatuelle, and she returned by running third in the 1000 Guineas on her latest start. He then went to the Group One Middle Park at Newmarket, again behind Vandeek, staying on well into third, the likes of Elite Status well behind. That was on good to firm, so conditions should be no problem.
The step up in trip on return was a solid display, with the winner being Rosallion, who won Tuesday’s Group One St James’s Palace. The second was the re-opposing Haatem, who will be a worthy opponent, but River Tiber was having his seasonal debut run compared to Haatem’s third run, so is entitled to come on for that. I can see him turning the tables over this seven-furlong trip.
The selection returns off a layoff, and when last seen was running fifth in a strong renewal of the Arc at Longchamp. The colt ran second when staying on in the Group Two King Edward Stakes of last season behind King Of Steel. He then bounded clear to win the Great Voltigeur at York before he comfortably won the St Leger at Doncaster.
He ended the season running that mighty race behind Ace Impact in the Arc, and he sets a daunting task for the rest to match.
Often a race when horses can back up from Tuesday’s Kings Stand (now King Charles Stakes), I’m with the filly Believing in the hope she can handle the quick turnaround. She was staying on best in Tuesday’s Group One over five furlongs. It was a huge eye-catching run considering she was drawn away from the pace and had to challenge far side in somewhat of a solo out on the wing of the pack. She’s a winner at six furlongs on good to firm ground but handles soft.
She arrives in form, unlike some, and her yard is in red hot form (39% last 14days) and she gets the allowance which brings her into this on the figures, and she’s only a four-year-old, so potential and time on her side. She should go well at a price.
