Ascot – INSPIRAL

She bids to get back on track after a lesser display on her return in the Lockinge. She was beaten a neck in the Queen Anne last season after being slowly away and having to make up ground. She won the Group One Jacques Le Marois beating Big Rock in August, Big Rock went on to win the Group One British Champions Mile at Ascot by six lengths two runs later. Inspiral then went to Santa Anita and won the Group One Breeder’s Cup Filly and Mares Turf, beating Warm Heart, won had won two Group One’s prior to that in the Yorkshire Oaks and the Vermeille.

Inspiral’s credentials are there for all to see, her form stacks up and she has a liking for Ascot, with the bend and longer trip being a preference, I think that will suit her best and keep her engaged to power home.

Ascot – OCEAN JEWEL

I think there is doubts about plenty in this field, and I’m happy to back last-time-out winner, Ocean Jewel. Travelling strongly and showing a nice turn to land a Group Two at the Curragh on Guineas weekend, maybe this year is the time for Ocean Jewel to thrive.

Rogue Millennium was two-and-a-quarter lengths back in third that day and re-opposes, but at the time of writing is more than half the price, and I’m happy with Ocean Jewel, and she think could have potential to show more this year.

LONG SHOT:

Ascot – STREETS OF GOLD

This very classy two-year-old won some big pots when starting out, including a nice prize at the Curragh, and two at York, before running third over seven furlongs here in the Group Three Jersey Stakes at this meeting. He was then gelded after having some time off and returned this season with a solid run in a hot Group Three Abernant Stakes.

The winner, Washington Heights beat Mill Stream, who went on to win a Group Two at York and reverse that form, the fourth was Mitbatthy who won a Group Two at the Curragh, the fifth was Tiber Flow who won a Group Three next time out, the eighth was second in a Listed race and the tenth was second in a Group Two. The selection was beaten fourth lengths staying on. Streets Of Gold then stepped up back to seven furlongs to contest the always competitive Victoria Cup at this track, and again stayed on well into sixth of 21, rallying when outpaced to be beaten just over two lengths.

I think the step up to the mile, on a course that clearly suits, can see the selection run a huge race in this big field.
