Raceolly’s Saturday Racing Tips at Ascot and Haydock
The current price of Bucanero Fuerte is crazy, especially considering he’s officially top rated and is a 3-time graded winner from just six starts. He won a Group 3 last time out after a 252-day break at Naas and before that didn’t get his tactics right in a Group 1 over further at the Curragh. His run at the Curragh over 6 furlongs just two starts back is very strong having easily beat Porta Fortuna, who has since won three Group 1s. He’s had a break again since last run and has plenty of room for more improvement to come.
Streets Of Gold is a very interesting runner in this. He went unbeaten as a 2-year-old and placed at Group 3 level as a 3-year-old. Now a 4-year-old, he’s already finished a close 6th of 21 in the Victoria Cup at Ascot this season, off a mark 4lbs higher than today.
Beaten by the narrowest of margins in the racing league at Chepstow after a little break two starts back, and is best forgiven a quick turnout last time out. Cheekpieces first time are an interesting addition to his already solid course and distance form.
Caliyza makes his stable debut for John McConnell here after plying his trade in France to date. Any rain would be no problem at all, and he was highly tried when with the Graffard yard. He’s had a long break since his last run and it’s interesting they chose to come here for his stable debut at a track the trainer has never had a runner on the flat at before, and just two over jumps.
