Jake Clarke-Salter and Morgan Fox returned from their own injuries to form the centre-half pairing in South Wales and struggled. The duo will each be called upon for Sunday’s tricky trip to Norwich with head coach Marti Cifuentes now likely to shake the side up elsewhere. Michael Frey, Ilias Chair and Harrison Ashby in-line for recalls.
Cifuentes was eager to move on from the Swansea mauling, saying post-match: “Our first half was very poor, and we weren’t at the level we were in our last few games. We gave them too many opportunities. We have to move on now. I prefer to lose one game 3-0 than three games 1-0 and so hopefully today is just a bad game.”
NORWICH VS QPR – SUN 29 DEC, 12:30
Carrow Road contests have been the most goal-heavy in the Championship this season – Norwich’s matches in front of their own supporters have averaged 4.00 goals per-game with nine of 11 seeing Both Teams To Score bank. The Canaries have scored in all bar one of those outings, managing a solitary shutout, which should encourage QPR.
Despite the scarily-high goal average in Norfolk, QPR are rarely dragged into high-scoring shootouts. Marti Cifuentes has now overseen 55 Championship games in-charge of QPR with the average goals per-game output coming in at 2.24. An enormous 85% of those fixtures have featured Under 3.5 Goals, with just two hitting the 5+ mark.
