QPR boss Marti Cifuentes refused to make excuses after overseeing a below-par performance from the R’s in defeat to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend. Rangers had won their previous four home Championship contests but rarely looked like equalising after going behind at Loftus Road and were deservedly beaten 2-0 by the Owls.

The reverse came after two long away trips in the space of a few days, to Plymouth and then Hull. But head coach Cifuentes said, “That’s not where my focus is, otherwise I think we can create a culture of excuses or finding reasons. Today we were not good enough to score goals and they were. That’s it. We just need to improve.”

QPR have been active in the January market and may have two new faces available for the trip to Millwall on Saturday. South Korean winger Yang Min-hyeok has joined on-loan from Tottenham for the rest of the season, whilst a move to sign versatile left-sided player sign Harvey Vale from Chelsea appears to be close ahead of the weekend.
