Marti Cifuentes admitted he understood the frustration among QPR fans following a chastening home defeat against Middlesbrough in midweek – but insisted he remains “100% confident” he can turn things around. Rangers remain second from bottom of the Championship table after the 4-1 thumping at Loftus Road.

Cifuentes said, “I’m not happy and the players are not happy. I’m 100% confident we can turn this around. I’ve been in situations like this all my career and I’ve always succeeded. If someone expected that this would be an easy season then I think that was wrong. I said many times during the summer that expectations should be realistic.”

The result was a major setback after improved performances in recent draws against Coventry, Burnley and Sunderland. Two Boro goals in the space of four first-half minutes did much of the damage, whilst an injury to Ilias Chair could further deplete the R’s resources ahead of their tough trip to high-flying Leeds at the weekend.

Twelve of QPR’s opening 14 league fixtures this season have featured Over 1.5 Goals with Rangers getting on the scoresheet in 10 of those tussles and recording only two clean sheets. With Leeds only being involved in two goalless games, scoring 15 in their seven Elland Road outings, it would be a surprise if the match ended scoreless.

Total booking points – Under 49.5

Neither Leeds nor QPR have been involved in regular card-heavy games that have produced a Booking Points haul of 50 or more. In fact, 72% of Leeds’ home dates have delivered fewer than four cards, whilst eight of Rangers’ previous 10 tussles have seen a maximum of four cautions. A repeat looks overpriced in West Yorkshire.

Team corners –
QPR over 2.5

QPR have been excellent corner operators despite their lowly position, winning 4+ in 11 of 14 matches in 2024/25 and a minimum of three corners in 12 of those 14 tussles. Meanwhile, five of the last six visitors to Elland Road in the Championship have forced a corner total of three or more, suggesting Rangers could follow suit.
