Jack Wright’s Weekend 7/2 Treble
Jack Wright's Weekend 7/2 Treble
Burnley travelled to the only side ahead of them in CopyBet’s Outright Championship Winner market and returned to Lancashire with a massive three points. Scott Parker saw his side shut out the title favourites with Luca Koleosho streaking clear to score the only goal of the game. The Clarets became the first team to beat Leeds in the league this season and the first to score against them since the opening day moving up to fourth as a result.
Opponents for that first game were Portsmouth and although they took a point home from Yorkshire, I expect them to leave Turf Moor empty handed. Pompey were dealt an incredibly difficult set of fixtures to begin their campaign and that has showed after successive defeats to Sunderland and West Brom. No side has conceded more than their 11 goals, shipping three times on three separate occasions and now sit in the relegation zone to dampen the mood after their League One title win last term.
After a tricky start to the season which saw a pair of 3-2 defeats, albeit to the top two in League One Birmingham and Wrexham, Wycombe have put a nice run of form together. A come-from-behind 2-1 victory at Northampton on Saturday made it seven points from the last nine available and moved Matt Bloomfield’s side up to 10th and just three points adrift of the play-off places. A feature of their season so far has been the ability to get goals with only the aforementioned top two having scored more than their total of 10. What is more the Chairboys have hit the back of the net twice in all five opening fixtures.
That is too much firepower for a Cambridge side that have failed to score in three of their five League One outings. The rock-bottom U’s have just a solitary point to their name having lost four of those matches including all three road trips in which they have conceded twice on each occasion.
After seven games without a win across all competitions Swindon’s season burst into life last weekend as they thumped Newport 4-0. On-loan striker Kabongo Tshimanga got his first goal for the club which could be crucial having seen his prolific record at National League level. He will be keen to show parent club Peterborough he is over the broken leg he suffered whilst at Chesterfield and as yet has struggled to recover from.
The Cumbrians skipper Charlie Wyke described his side’s start to the season as “disappointing” and “embarrassing” which is impossible to argue with. It’s seven defeats from eight fixtures across all competitions shipping 18 goals and at least twice in all losses. As struggling sides do the Blues, who are just one point and one place outside the relegation zone, have made a habit of conceding early. Their opponents have opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes in four of their five league defeats and with their tails up Swindon can exploit that weakness at the County Ground on Saturday.
