If Exeter are to build on a solid mid-table finish last season and possibly push for the play-offs, then this looks like a game they must win. The Grecians put together a decent run of form in September posting three successive home wins over Stevenage in the league and Swindon and Tottenham Under-21’s in the EFL Trophy.

Visitors Cambridge have endured a torrid start to the campaign and are yet to pick up a point on the road from four attempts. The U’s have conceded twice in each of those road trips and shipped three times against fourth tier Bromley in the EFL Trophy. They may struggle to break down the miserly defence of the hosts who in turn will expect to make the most of the brittle Cambridge backline.

Wrexham vs Northampton

After three road trips from their last four League One outings Wrexham will be delighted to be back on home soil for this clash with the Cobblers. The Racecourse Ground has been an absolute fortress this season with Phil Parkinson seeing his side win all five fixtures across all competitions. Four of those have come in the league and seen the Red Dragons score 11 goals in the process while conceding just three. It is their attacking strength in depth that is a difference maker at this level with Paul Mullin and Stephen Fletcher backing up the current first choice pairing of Jack Marriott and Ollie Palmer.

Northampton have had an inconsistent start to the campaign and lack a cutting edge in the final third. The hosts are expected to have too much firepower especially with home advantage where they are formidable.

Barrow vs Cheltenham

After two very tough away assignments in the last week at promotion rivals Gillingham and Doncaster, Barrow will relish this fixture at Holker Street. From their first four league games on home soil the Bluebirds have only conceded one goal and that coming in the only game they did not win. You may remember that fixture as it was the 1-1 draw with Swindon where defender Rory Feely had to go in goal after Paul Farman's 42nd-minute sending-off. He was only beaten in the 98th minute.

Visitors Cheltenham have been tipped to be at risk of back-to-back relegations and have indeed struggled in the early stages of the season. The Robins were booed off by their own fans at the weekend with manager Michael Flynn saying he hoped never to watch a performance as poor again after the 2-0 defeat to Fleetwood. His side have lost three of their opening four league road trips conceding eight goals and will not be relishing the long trip north.
