Irish NH Tips Stewards’ Cup Day
This five-year-old mare is in the form of her life and has gone from strength to strength over staying trips in the last couple of seasons. She was a Group Three winner in France at the end of last year and so far this season she's been unlucky not to get her head in front going down by a head in a pair of Group Threes behind Sweet William and Coltrane before running down the field in the Ascot Gold Cup.
That was a bridge too far but back in this grade against her own sex she looks a force to be reckoned with and I don't think she will be far away.
This horse has always been a high-class operator over middle distances. He's seven now but he looked as good as ever last season, and he made a very pleasing comeback at Newbury behind one of today's rivals Phantom Flight. I've every confidence that Al Aasy can reverse that form as he almost always comes on massively for his first run of the season.
We know on his day he more than has the measure of these and I expect him to stamp his class all over this race and run out a good winner.
This horse is a multiple course winner and is one from one over course and distance. He's a consistent horse and has raced predominantly over five furlongs in his career but I find it very interesting that Tom Marquand rode him for the first time on his most recent start at Ascot over five and he steps up in trip here with Marquand on board again.
He just seemed to lack a gear the last day at Ascot over the five and back here on a track he runs so well at and stepping up to six furlongs the 16/1 or 20/1 that's knocking around makes him look a cracking each way bet to me.
