FA Cup semi-finals football predictions - Copybet
Spotlight Sports Group's betting expert has picked out two bets to consider for the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley on Saturday and Sunday.
The stage is set for a pair of top-quality FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley and while they will be contested by four of the top 12 teams in the Premier League, it's still a refreshing line-up.
Manchester City are the clear FA Cup favourites as they bid to appear in the final for the third successive season but none of the other three candidates have won the famous competition in the last half-century.
City have taken on their Manchester rivals United in the last two FA Cup finals, winning 2-1 in 2023 with two goals by Ilkay Gundogan for their seventh success in the competition, but they lost by the same score last year after the Red Devils raced into a 2-0 half-time lead.
Aston Villa have also won the world's most famous club competition seven times but three of their wins were in the 19th century and their most recent success was in 1957.
Nottingham Forest's second FA Cup win came just two years later in 1959, while Crystal Palace are still seeking their first win having lost to Manchester United on both of their final appearances in 1990 and 2016.
All four teams are in decent form so fans could be treated to some excellent action at Wembley.
Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa
Sat 26 April, 17:15
Aston Villa are the only team coming into the semi-finals after losing their last game but they were beaten by a 90th-minute goal by Manchester City in the Premier League on Tuesday night and their only other defeat in their last 12 games was in the away leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain.
With 10 wins in those matches including victories against top teams such as Brighton, Forest, PSG and Newcastle, they should still be brimming with confidence and are capable of claiming a place in the final.
Crystal Palace can at least get on the scoresheet in what could be an attractive tie to watch, though, and backing both teams to score in a Villa win appeals.
The Eagles showed plenty of fight in their league game at Arsenal on Wednesday night despite manager Oliver Glasner rotating his side with this match in mind.
Goals from Eberechi Eze and substitute Jean-Philippe Mateta earned Palace a creditable 2-2 draw and effectively extinguished Arsenal's final hopes in the title race.
Palace have gone four games without a win and are the lowest-placed team remaining in the competition, but they are also the only team with no concerns about the ongoing battle for European places, so they can give their all in this competition.
That may not be enough to overcome a talented and refreshing Villa side, but the Eagles are capable of netting a consolation goal.
There have been plenty of goals in the teams' three previous meetings this season, with Palace winning 2-1 in the EFL Cup before a 2-2 league draw at Villa Park and a 4-1 Eagles win at Selhurst Park in February.
Nottingham Forest vs Manchester City
Sun 27 April, 16:30
Nottingham Forest have been one of the teams of the season in the Premier League and an upset of FA Cup final regulars Manchester City on Sunday is hard to rule out.
Forest have had an extra day to prepare for this match having won 2-1 at Tottenham on Monday night, while City were involved in a tense league battle against Aston Villa the following day, eventually prevailing 2-1 with a late Matheus Nunes goal.
Pep Guardiola's side are on their first seven-match unbeaten run since October, but they will be mindful that their current sequence began after a 1-0 defeat to Forest at the City Ground in early March, when a Callum Hudson-Odoi goal separated the teams.
City had the better of the teams' first league meeting in November, winning 3-0 at the Etihad but that came during Forest's worst spell of the whole season, when they lost three times in four games and a better effort can be expected.
The midweek win at Tottenham should have done wonders for Forest's confidence after they lost their previous two matches to Aston Villa and Everton in close contests.
They look underrated in the betting, so are worth backing to at least force extra-time by winning or drawing in 90 minutes.
