EPL Matchday 34 preview - Copybet

It’s Matchday 34 in the Premier League and with the title and relegation places all but wrapped up, the interest centres around the quest for European qualification.

Chelsea are pushing for a top-five finish and the Blues host Everton on Saturday, while Champions League rivals Newcastle host Ipswich.

Fellow contenders Manchester City, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest have a break from the top-flight to contest the FA Cup semi-finals, but there is plenty of Premier League action to consider.

Tip 1: Chelsea needed two last-gasp goals to down Fulham 2-1 last time out, and while that victory has boosted the Blues' hopes of a top-five finish, it was only the west Londoners' sixth success in their last 17 Premier League matches.

Prior to the derby victory over the Cottagers, Enzo Maresca’s men had lost 2-1 to Legia Warsaw in the Conference League and been held to a 2-2 draw by an Ipswich side heading for the Championship.

Those aren’t convincing results and Everton have shown enough to suggest they can be competitive at Stamford Bridge.

It’s only two defeats in ten matches for the Toffees and those losses came against top-level teams in Manchester City and Liverpool.

The Merseyside men are a spirited team under boss David Moyes and the Toffees look capable of being sticky opponents for Chelsea.

Bournemouth vs Man United

Tip 2: Manchester United will be focusing their efforts on Thursday night’s Europa League semi-final and that should leave the door open for Bournemouth to take advantage on Sunday.

Even a fully focused Red Devils side would have been likely to struggle on the south coast, and a United with eyes on another prize could be in for a tough afternoon.

Ruben Amorim’s men have won only two of their last 11 matches in 90 minutes and last weekend’s 1-0 Old Trafford defeat to Wolves was a poor effort.

Liverpool vs Tottenham

Tip 3: It has been a season of troubles for Tottenham and Spurs look set to call time on Ange Postecoglou’s reign come the end of the season.

The Lilywhites will almost certainly be prioritising Thursday night’s Europa League semi-final, but Spurs’ chances of success at Liverpool shouldn’t be ignored.

Of course, the Reds are miles superior to Tottenham, but every team has their price and Spurs might have reached it.

Liverpool are stuttering towards the Premier League title, as Arne Slot’s men have won only three of their last six games and those three victories have been a 1-0 win over Leicester, 2-1 success against West Ham and a 1-0 triumph in the Merseyside derby with Everton.

That isn’t fantastic form and odds of 26/100 about a Reds win is a mighty short price.
