Dan Tracey’s 2024/25 Season Predictions
After coming close in the last two seasons, I think this is the campaign when Arsenal finally climbs the mountain top. There may be questions regarding who leads the line in attack but that has always been a question under Mikel Arteta, this season I think the Spaniard finally has the answer.
Not the most exciting pick but with Erling Haaland preparing for his third season at Manchester City, it is incredibly difficult to look past the Norwegian to scoop up the prize for the third year in a row. Especially as he has scored 63 goals in 66 Premier League matches – numbers not to be ignored.
In lieu of failing to win another Premier League crown, I think Manchester City will return to the summit of European football at the end of this season.
Maybe the title race is run early, and this allows Pep Guardiola to place fuller focus on the Champions League as a consolation prize of sorts.
Foiled in last season’s final, Manchester City will be keen to return to Wembley this time around and more importantly, go one better. A lot will obviously depend on the cup draws along the way but even if paired against a fellow big gun, it is unlikely that City’s road to Wembley is closed off.
Buoyed by FA Cup success of last season and all the backroom changes that have been made at Old Trafford, I think Manchester United look the best placed to finish in the top four – there are too many variables surrounding the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham and the Red Devils look best placed to push on.
I think Southampton will struggle this season under Russell Martin. There is no doubt that the former Swansea boss has a playing style that he likes to see adhered to and although that style was successful in the Championship, I am not sure it will have the same teeth in the Premier League.
