This son of Walk In The Park has won four of his five career starts tasting defeat only in the Grade One Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival a race he was sent off 9/2 second favourite for. He was arguably the best British Novice Hurdler over any distance last season and this giant of a horse is only likely to improve hand over fist for tackling the larger obstacles. He was a Grade Two winner last season over hurdles over two and a half miles around Cheltenham.

I don't think this trip will hold any fears for him. I think he's a Grade One horse in the making and is the most exciting horse in Britain for the season ahead. I just can't see him beaten here.

This eight-year-old son of Cokoriko has probably never scaled the heights that he promised he might in the early days of his career, but he's been a fine servant for connections winning three times and placing five more from his 13 lifetime starts. He comes here on the back of a really good run at Chepstow six weeks ago in a race where he suffered plenty interference after the last and I was surprised he wasn't awarded the race in the Stewards room.

He won this very race last season off a mark of 133 and he comes here off 135 with a run under his belt and a good gap since his last run. He should be primed for the day in a bid to repeat last year's success and in my opinion, he won't be far away.

LONG SHOT:

Ascot – NOCTE VOLATUS

This nine-year-old is in the form of his life at the moment. He's won his last two starts over fences his first wins since March 2022. I think the handicapper is still giving him a bit of a chance having only given him 5lbs for his win last time at Chepstow in what is normally a good handicap chase, and this season looks no different.

He was value for more than the winning margin on the day having made a bad mistake at the third last, but he ground it out well and I see him making his presence felt in here again. Even Sagebourg County who ran behind him at Chepstow isn't without a chance in here in a race where I'd want to take on the top of the market. There's definitely value to be had.
