Elite Status had plenty of excuses last time and still ran a big race to finish as close as he did and won the Hackwood Group Three before that at Newbury, form of which has been franked since. Yard has a few runners in this, but the jockey has picked Elite Status has his first choice and he ticks a lot of boxes. Good draw and three-year-olds have a decent record.
Toimy Son is interesting in this having run consistently well all season ending last time with a fantastic third in the Cambridgeshire having come from further back than the first two home. Didn’t get the gaps the time before over this trip at Goodwood and won easily there the time before, form of which has been franked especially by the third winning a Group Three last time out. Oisin Murphy has a good record for the yard and always worth a look when teaming up in a handicap.
Aidan O’Brien has a good record in this winning two of the last seven running's and with a few places thrown in too. Kyprios will be the hot favourite to add to the trainers recent record but The Euphrates catches the eye having won nicely on his first attempt at the trip last time out and only just faded late on behind Kyprios the time before that which was a massive effort from a three-year-old against the older, more seasoned Group One performers.
They will be a top performer next season at this level no doubt but at a huge price it’s worth a chance that he can put up a big effort with the big weight allowance and with the eye-catching booking of Christophe Soumillon in the saddle.
