QPR’s recent revival continued with a 2-0 home triumph over Oxford in midweek. Rangers have moved four points clear of the relegation zone with a five-match unbeaten streak that’s included back-to-back home victories at Loftus Road, as well as four clean sheets on the spin.

Head coach Marti Cifuentes felt a half-time tactical change paid off on Wednesday night following a dire opening 45 minutes. Sam Field’s second-half strikes gave QPR a deserved victory overall, with the Spanish boss demanding more from his in-form group.

Cifuentes said, “I know that it was not the best first half of my life as a coach. We adjusted a couple of details from a tactical point of view in our build-up. We spoke about how to improve our ball-tempo when we were high up the pitch. We certainly did that. Credit to the players. They took it on-board, they reacted and responded well.”

Ilias Chair made a welcome return from injury off the bench for Rangers, though Nicolas Maden appeared to pick up a heavy knock and is now considered doubtful for the quick turnaround to Saturday. Kenneth Paal, Michael Frey and Jake Clarke-Salter are all close to returning to full fitness and will be available again before Christmas.
